Wat Pho Kao Ton (Wat Mai Daeng)

History
Wat Pho Kao Ton is in Village No. 8, Bang Rachan Subdistrict. It was a stronghold for the heroes of Bang Rachan as they resisted an army attacking Ayutthaya in B.E. 2308 (1765). Locals call it Wat Mai Daeng (“Redwood Temple”) because several redwood trees, a durable hardwood, grow in the grounds and have been carefully preserved by the community. The temple has a four-porched viharn dedicated to Phra Ajarn Thammachot, whom local people revered and looked to for encouragement in their struggle.
