Wat Klang Bang Phra

History
Wat Klang Bang Phra is an old temple believed to have been built around 1783, early in the Rattanakosin period. A local story says that during the Burmese attack on Ayutthaya in 1757, people, court officials, a Buddha image and a Bodhi tree were evacuated by boat. A storm sank the boat and submerged the Buddha image, while the tree floated to Sri Maha Pho Subdistrict and grew there. The temple was later built where the image sank, between Wat Bang Phra and Wat Si Maha Pho; this location gave the temple its name.
