Wat Ban Laem (Wat Phet Samut Worawihan)

History
Wat Ban Laem is on Phet Samut Road and was formerly called Wat Si Champa. According to the Royal Autograph Chronicle, Burmese forces invaded Phetchaburi in B.E. 2307, and the Ayutthaya army came to defend the city. Ban Laem residents from Phetchaburi fled the Burmese and settled in Mae Klong Subdistrict, north of Wat Si Champa. They named the settlement after their original village, Ban Laem, and helped restore the temple, which was then renamed Wat Ban Laem.
