Don Kai Dee Benjarong Village

History
The village’s artisans learned Benjarong pottery production and ceramic painting from Thai-Chinese instructors invited by the old Sathiaphap factory, also known as the Chicken Bowl factory in Samut Sakhon. After the factory closed following financial losses in B.E. 2532 (1989), former workers formed a group to apply and further develop their skills. Don Kai Dee’s distinctive designs use five colors; gold-painted patterns add gold to enhance the decoration. The source says the wares were selected as a five-star OTOP product in B.E. 2546 (2003), and the village received an outstanding tourism community award in B.E. 2550 (2007).
