The site is in Sahakon Nikhom Subdistrict and was formerly a lead mine. After the mining concession ended, Sahakon Nikhom Municipality coordinated with relevant agencies to develop the mine as a conservation-oriented visitor attraction because of its educational history. The tunnel interior is striking, and the surrounding landscape is covered in natural forest and hills.
