Phuket Old Town
History
One popular activity for visitors to Phuket is walking through Phuket Old Town, an area rich in history. In the past, people of various ethnic backgrounds—including Chinese, Indians, Europeans and Muslims—settled there and worked in trade. They built shophouses in a “Sino-European” architectural style along both sides of the streets, during the reign of King Rama V, when tin mining was flourishing.
