Phra Narai Ratchaniwet

History
Located in Tha Hin Subdistrict, the palace was commissioned by King Narai the Great in B.E. 2209 as his residence in Lop Buri. He is said to have stayed there for as many as 8–9 months each year. The palace is divided into outer, middle and inner precincts. Its brick-and-mortar walls are topped with rows of bai sema boundary motifs, and the complex has 11 gates. The entrance is a four-faced pavilion with a pointed-arch passage. Its pediment is decorated with stucco kranok motifs that developed from lotus designs. Small pointed-arch openings resembling lotus buds run along the gates and walls of the middle and inner precincts; around 2,000 were made to hold lamps. Later, King Rama IV ordered the palace restored and bestowed the name Phra Narai Ratchaniwet.
