Pha Taem National Park

History
Pha Taem National Park covers about 340 square kilometres across Khong Chiam, Si Mueang Mai, and Pho Sai districts, along the Mekong border with Laos. Its landscape includes plateaus, steep hills, and cliffs; Phu Chan Daeng is the highest peak at about 461 metres above mean sea level. Dry dipterocarp forest covers much of the park and supports small wildlife and many bird species. The park headquarters is in Ban Nong Phue Noi, Huai Phai Subdistrict, Khong Chiam District. The terrain includes cliffs formed by separation of the earth’s surface, unusual sandstone formations, and flowering plants growing on rock fields.
